The CW Oak Ecosystem Recovery Working Group has finalized their meeting schedule for 2018 with their next meeting on February 22 at The Morton Arboretum. For more information, contact Chris Mulvaney at

The Oak Ecosystems Working Group is in the final phases of delineating a network of critical opportunity areas for oak ecosystem recovery, comprised of higher quality core areas, surrounding buffers, and potential corridors. Once finalized, this information will add a geospatial context to the recommended strategies and actions in the Oak Ecosystems Recovery Plan.

In 2018, the Working Group plans to collaborate with forest preserves, conservation districts and other partners to identify at least one oak ecosystem core/buffer/corridor complex in each county. The Work Group’s goal is to begin collaborative and targeted outreach to private landowners in those areas as a way to encourage increased oak recovery best management practices on private lands.
