Come to Washington Square to opine on the subject of trees.

Washington Square has a long history as a center of public oration, so where better to learn about the trees that have withstood the endless pontification and posturing of those before us.

An experienced forester will be guiding a tour of the parkway trees (both old and new) of Washington Square and the surrounding streets. Several cultivars of varying genera will be examined. Genera include Ginkgo, Prunus, Quercus, Robinia, and Ulmus.

Past and Present
Systematic Diversification
Identification References
Surroundings and context clues
Patterns and branching
Habit and Identification

Meeting Location: On Dearborn Street, South of Chestnut Street; 824 N Dearborn; Midblock by the Ginkgo on the west side of Dearborn.
