Discover the group of diverse and important organisms know as native pollinators. Pollinators impact the lives of humans, animals, plants and other insects, making them a group which is critical to life as we know it. In this class, we’ll begin with an overview of the ecology of pollinators. The discussion will include the co-evolution of flowering plants and insects, non-insect pollinators, and pollination syndromes. With this background, we will then examine the worldwide decline in pollinators and how that affects other life forms – including us! In the second part of the class, we’ll head into the field to find an array of pollinators at work. We will conclude by learning ways that everyone can help native pollinators. Advance registration is required. Call 630-444-3190 or email to register.
