The Center for Neighborhood Technology’s RainReady Community team is currently in the midst of a 1-year community planning process for six south suburban communities.  As part of this effort, the Rain Ready team and our partners are hosting a series of educational workshops designed to help communities better understand local flooding challenges and to equip key actors with the resources needed to advance projects and ideas that will build community resilience.

Getting the Money In: Grantwriting 101

Thursday July 14, 2:00 – 4p

South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association

1904 W. 174th St., East Hazel Crest 60429

CNT’s RainReady team helped the Village of Midlothian raise $10 million dollars in outside funding in 2015 to mediate urban flooding issues.  In 2016, RainReady recruited a team of funders and fundraisers to teach you how to bring in the money.  Presenters from the Village of Midlothian, CNT, Chicago Parks, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will discuss everything from finding grants to recruiting partners, and how to decipher the application process.

In this interactive workshop, presenters will introduce the key components of a successful grant application. Then, presenters and attendees will work together to understand the requirements of an upcoming grant opportunity and critique past proposals.
