We will be searching for early spring migrants, including a variety of ducks, Fox Sparrow, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Brown Creeper. There’s a great chance to see Great Horned Owl on this trip as well. Stick around afterwards  to give back to the birds by helping out with habitat restoration work!

All trips will meet at the Caretakers’ Building at Eggers Grove Forest Preserve. The entrance to the preserve is at 112th St. and Avenue E in Chicago.

Throughout 2016, The Field Museum will be leading birding field trips as part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County's Big Year Birding competition. During the #BirdthePreserves Big Year competition, teams will compete to see which preserve has the most bird species and which preserve team can engage the most new birders in their Big Year efforts. There will be prizes and glory for the winners!

New birders and experienced birders are encouraged to join! The competition will be a fun way for participants to see some great birds, learn from experts, visit amazing places and make a connection with nature. Interested participants can become a member of the Eggers Grove Field Sparrows!
