Seed harvest is an important step in restoring natural areas – and it’s one of the most fun! Learn why and how ecologists harvest native plant seeds during this two-part program. Restoration Ecologist Pat Chess will begin the class with an overview of seed identification, ripeness, and harvest techniques. He will discuss how seeds are processed for storage and later sowing. We will then go out in the field to put into practice the techniques we have learned. Fee: $10/person The Forest Preserve District of Kane County teams up with the St. Charles Park District, and the Geneva Park District to offer a series of classes for ages 16 and above, focusing on a variety of topics in local ecology. The following classes offer in-depth information and learning opportunities.
